We will discuss your concerns and carry out an assessment of your teeth, jaws and smile with photographs, radiographs and a 3D scan of your teeth to determine if you would benefit from orthodontic treatment and which type of treatment is most appropriate. This consultation may take place over two appointments to given you time to consider your options.
Metal fixed braces use a series of small metal brackets attached to the front of each tooth, the brackets are connected by a metal archwire that runs and small elastic bands are used to hold the wire in place. During the course of treatment, you will need to attend for regular adjustment appointments. At each visit small adjustments will be made in the archwires, which will create a gentle pressure that will slowly guide your teeth into alignment. Fixed metal braces are reliable, versatile and usually the cheapest option to align teeth. I offer two types of metal brace standard silver brackets and champagne iconix brackets.
Discounts are offered for patients under 18 who would qualify on the NHS but do not wish to wait to have treatment.
Ceramic braces work just like metal braces, with a series of white or clear brackets, archwires and elastics that move your teeth into alignment with gentle pressure.
Invisalign® treatment uses a series of thin plastic trays called aligners to shape your smile instead of metal brackets or wires. These clear aligners slot over your top and bottom teeth, and are custom made to suit your exact smile. Invisalign has 4 levels of treatment: express, lite, moderate and comprehensive. Invisalign also offers comprehensive treatment for teenagers.
Jaw surgery or orthognathic surgery as it is also known is used in orthodontics to correct your bite and change your facial profile. In some cases treatment is planned to improve your bite, with minimal change to your facial appearance, whilst in other cases, there will be more noticeable change to your facial appearance. I work with two very experienced maxillofacial surgeons to provide a comprehensive package of care.
Hypodontia means the developmental absence of teeth. The number of teeth that are absent is variable and can range from 1 to the entire dentition (termed anodontia). I work with implantologists, restorative dentists and general dentists to either close the space or idealise the space for implant or bridge placement. Orthodontics can also help if teeth have been lost through trauma or infection.
